Culeth Construction has successfully completed the construction of a brand-new sports hall for Fountains High School in Stretton, Burton on Trent. The £2.5 million project represents a significant investment in the school’s facilities and the wider local community.
Located at the school’s Bitham Lane site, the new steel-framed sports hall covers approximately 690 square metres. The development also features an attached amenity block with modern changing rooms, welfare facilities, and storage areas, ensuring a comprehensive sporting environment for students and visitors alike.
A highlight of the project is the inclusion of a state-of-the-art 3G Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) pitch, providing all-weather sporting opportunities. Additional parking and essential site services have also been incorporated to support the increased usage of the facility.
Importantly, the new facility will be available not only to Fountains High School students but also to other local schools and clubs, strengthening sporting opportunities throughout the Stretton and Burton on Trent area. School leaders and project stakeholders are confident that the development will become a valuable asset for the wider community.
The completion of the sports hall marks a significant milestone as Fountains High School continues to enhance its educational and extracurricular offerings.
"We are absolutely delighted with our new sports hall," said Vicki Broad, Executive School Business Manager at Fountains High School. "It has been an amazing experience bringing the project to fruition, and the children really appreciate the result. We have 250 students, aged 11 to 19, and they have loved watching the build evolve, seeing their previous playing field totally transformed."
Ms. Broad also praised the construction team’s commitment to sustainability: "We have really appreciated the effort that Culeth Construction put in to make the scheme go smoothly and their extra work to ensure, wherever possible, the project met and even surpassed its green credentials—recycling elements wherever possible and incorporating energy-saving features."
“We are delighted to have such lovely feedback from Fountains High School” stated Louise Thompson of Culeth Construction. “The new sports hall will immeasurably change sport provision at the school and the project very much drew on our leisure and sports hall construction experience. The client is delighted with the outcome and we look forward to undertaking similar projects in the future” she added.
